As we enter the holy season of Advent, we can look forward not only to the coming of Christ, but to the many feasts before Christmas.

Tomorrow is First Friday (Dec. 5) and Saturday is First Saturday & the Feast of St. Nicholas (Dec. 6). In the honor of that holy and charitable bishop, we will have some blessed gifts for you and a blessed cookie reception.

Remember that this Monday, Dec. 8, is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception—our national patroness. Perhaps for that reason this is one of two Holy Days that is always obligatory no matter what day it falls. (The other is Christmas.) The other Holy Days become optional when they fall on a Monday or Saturday. We will be open with the normal schedule:

  • (10:30 am) Doors Open & Eucharistic Exposition
  • (11:00 am) Confessions
  • (Noon) Mass
  • (After Mass) Rosary & Chaplet

Other important days in December are …

  • Wednesday, Dec. 10: Our Lady of Loreto & 100th Anniversary of the “First Saturday Apparition” in 1925;
  • Friday, Dec 12: Our Lady of Guadalupe (with a reception to follow);
  • Saturday, Dec. 13 & Dec. 20: Catechesis on the Last Things (the supposes Rapture; the Church or the modern State of Israel; the supposed “Millennium,” more on the Antichrist, etc.)
  • Dec. 21-30 we will be CLOSED.
  • Wednesday Dec. 31: 4:00 pm Vigil Mass for Mary, Mother of God (Holy Day of Obligation)
  • Thursday, Jan. 1: OPEN (normal hours like above) for the Solemnity and Holy Day of Obligation of Mary, Mother of God.
