Dear Friends,
Tomorrow, June 7, is not only First Friday and but the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At St. Joseph Chapel (400 South Blvd. West, Pontiac, MI 48341) we will celebrate this great day with joy and due solemnity this preeminent symbol of the incarnate God’s great love for humankind-the Heart of our Savior. A reverent Sacred Liturgy followed by First Friday Sacred Heart devotions will mark our day.
This Saturday, June 8, is the liturgical Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary—our Shrine’s Marian namesake. As a Fatima Shrine, consecrated to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart, we know that Jesus entrusted world peace to our spiritual Mother and that she will triumph of Satan’s global designs of leading people astray. Several special activities will take place:
1) Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary: We will pray this today to renew our consecration to our Immaculate Mother who, as the Immaculata, can guide us in all our activity and can protect us from the confusing “smoke of Satan” that so characterizes our times and our Church.
2) Home Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus: This ceremony with David Tay, President of the Men of the Sacred Hearts, and myself take place after Mass and will include a blessing of homes, participants, and the image of the two Hearts. We will pray the First Joyful Mystery of the Rosary decade.
3) Procession to the Shrine-Grotto: After the ceremony, I will invite the assembly to process to the Shrine-Grotto to complete the praying of the Holy Rosary. (Others may remain in the chapel to also complete the Rosary.) We will sing a song of devotion in front of the statue of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.
