Dear Friends,
First Friday falls this week on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (February 2). At St. Joseph Chapel (400 South Blvd. West, Pontiac, MI 48341) we will bless taper candles during Mass. First Saturday also falls this week (February 3) and coincides with the memorial of St. Blase, patron of those with throat afflictions. Myself and another priest will INDIVIDUALLY bless throats during Mass.
If you’re interested in living the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi as a layperson, one more “Come and See” Meeting that provides information about this vocation will be on Monday, February 26 at 7:00 pm in the Lower Level of St. Joseph Chapel. The meeting is meant to help one begin to discern a vocation and eventual membership in the Secular Franciscan Order. If you decide you wish to pursue this calling, Initial Formation meetings will begin in March. (Ask Fr. Alex for dates and times.) We will continually ask the Immaculata to guide our activity. The world needs an authentic Franciscan witness to the joy of Gospel living—something Jesus offers every human being.
