All the following events will take place in St. Joseph Chapel (400 South Blvd. West, Pontiac, MI 48341).
“Teaching Tuesdays” next month will be October 12 and 19. Fr. Alex will conduct a two-class Bible Study on Genesis 12-50. (Genesis 1-11 was studied in 2019.) We will use the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible Commentary, Genesis, by Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch. WE WILL HAVE 3 EXTRA COPIES OF THESE AVAILABLE. (The deadline was Monday, September 27.) We can provide the book for $15.00, or you may purchase it on your own. The book will be available the first night of class. Please make check payable to “Terra Sancta Ministries” and mail it to Terra Sancta Ministries, 400 South Blvd. West, Pontiac, MI 48341 OR drop it off in person. Please make it clear who the book(s) is for and provide a phone number for contact purposes. Come learn about God’s unfolding plan of salvation!
Wednesday, September 29, is the Feast of the Holy Archangels—Michael, Gabriel & Raphael. We will especially honor St. Michael.
First Friday occurs this week on October 1—the Feast of St. Therese of Lisieux, “the Little Flower.” What a great way to begin the month of October—the Month of the Holy Rosary.
First Saturday is October 2—the Feast of the Guardian Angels.
This weekend, Oct. 2-3, Terra Sancta Ministries will be selling Rosaries at Divine Child Parish (in Dearborn) after all the Masses to support our shrine and ministry. Free St. Joseph booklets will also be available.
Monday, October 4, St. Joseph Chapel will be open for the celebration of St. Francis of Assisi—a solemnity for Franciscans. We will have normal weekday hours (open at 10:30 am, 11:00 am Confessions, Noon Mass, the Franciscan Crown after Mass, close at 1:30 pm). Come honor one of the greatest evangelists of all time!
And finally, on Thursday, October 7, we will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. We open our doors at 6:30 pm with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, 7:00 pm Mass, followed by praying the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary and special Reflections on these mysteries. Keep in mind that the new movie, “Bridge of Roses,” which is the story of Our Lady of the Cape, the Queen of the Holy Rosary, will debut on that day and can be rented or bought through our website. This debut is in honor of the 450th Anniversary of this great Marian feast that began with the miraculous Rosary-inspired victory of Catholic naval forces over the superior Muslim Ottoman at the 1571 Battle of Lepanto. Our Lady, through the Holy Rosary, saved Europe from a Muslim invasion—pure and simple. St. Joseph & Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
