Tomorrow, Saturday, January 31, Bishop Jeffrey Montforton will come to St. Joseph Chapel & the Shrine of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (400 South Blvd. West, Pontiac, MI 48341) to celebrate the Noon Mass and join us for a lunch reception. EVERYONE IS WELCOME to the Mass and reception. NO RSVP IS NECESSARY.
I am soliciting interest on opening St. Joseph Chapel for Eucharistic Exposition on Third Thursday evenings, from 7:00-10:00 pm, perhaps with the Rosary prayed at 7:30 pm. PLEASE LET ME KNOW. (If a decent number express interest, I will take it under consideration.) Part of it would be to pray for the country and the West’s protection from the menace of Communism and to be “Under God.” In 1946 Sr. Lucia of Fatima predicted that America would turn Communist—i.e., the spread of the “errors of Russia” would include the United States. This is not written in stone, nor does it mean the whole country would become so, since the battle for each mind and soul hangs in the balance. The Devil is counting on the complacency of Catholics who discount such warnings, even though the streets of Minneapolis show it right before our eyes. Revolutionary destabilization is one step in this process. Ultimately, however, the “red dragon” of Communism (Revelation 12:3) devours all its adherents, not just its opponents. In times of crisis, we must multiply our Holy Hours, pray the Rosary daily (and offer extra ones), observe First Saturdays and cultivate devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary to whom alone the triumph over the red dragon has been promised. GATHERING UNDER THE MANTLE OF OUR MOTHER we littles ones become powerful. Come to YOUR SHRINE in Pontiac, dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is a refuge from the Devil, a bulwark of grace, and protected by the Heavenly Armies. Come beseech the Divine Mercy for our future.
The blessing of throats will be on February 4—a First Wednesday—at the end of Mass before we begin St. Joseph devotions.
First Friday and First Saturday, February 6 and 7 respectively, fall next week as well. Looking ahead, Lent begins in a mere 3 weeks on February 18, Ash Wednesday. So let’s live this short period of Winter Ordinary Time fruitfully in following Jesus.
