This Saturday, June 13, we will have an OUTDOOR MASS for the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary—our Shrine’s other patronal namesake.  The Mass location is in “The Hallow”—the grassy area behind and below St. Joseph Chapel.  We wish to honor the Immaculata whose “Yes!” (fiat) at Nazareth made Jesus our Brother, and whose consummated fiat at Calvary gave her a new, supernatural Motherhood (Pope St. John Paul II) to make her the mother of mankind (not just believers).  The SCHEDULE is …

  1. (11:00 am) Confessions as much as set up allows (Fr. Alex only)
  2. (11:30 am) Rosary:
  3. (Noon) Mass:
  4. (After Mass) Reception (outside, under tents)

We will have a tent to protect from the sun.  A FREE reception will follow the Mass so we can enjoy the day with each other.  Bathrooms will be accessible from the parking lot (in the chapel basement).  The chapel will NOT be open, but if someone is hot they can cool off in the chapel basement.  Everything will be held in the Hallow—Confessions, Rosary, Mass and reception.

TOMORROW, Thursday, June 11 (not June 12) our bishops will undertake a national consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of our country.

Friday, June 12, is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  We will of course be OPEN for it and celebrate a solemn Mass and do a Consecration to the Sacred Heart.  Friday evening at 7:00 pm we will pray an outdoor Stations of the Cross in reparation to the Sacred Heart.  These are the Stations on our property—most of which are located in “The Hallow.”  We will conclude by praying a Litany to the Sacred Heart and a Consecration to the Sacred Heart.

Our pilgrimage to the Holy Land will be October 12-22.  The Orientation Meeting is Sunday, June 21, from 2:00-4:30 pm at St. Joseph Chapel (400 South Blvd. W., Pontiac, MI 48341) in the Lower Level.  (Due to a schedule conflict, we have to hold it on Father’s Day.)  Please enter through the front iron chapel doors.  Registration begins at the Orientation Meeting, first come, first serve.  Registration requires a current passport—valid 6 months after our return October 22.
